Vesper Energy is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Vice President of Structured Finance to lead our capital raising efforts and manage relationships with investors, lenders, and financial institutions. The VP of Structured Finance will be responsible for developing and executing financing strategies to support our growing portfolio of renewable energy projects, ensuring optimal capital structure, and driving financial performance. The VP of Structured Finance will also be responsible for project underwriting, valuation and financial modeling efforts within the company.
Desired Educational Level:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- MBA or relevant advanced degree is strongly preferred.
Basic Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in capital markets (debt and tax equity), investment banking, or a related field, with a strong focus on the energy or infrastructure sectors.
- Proven track record in raising capital, structuring complex financial transactions, and managing relationships with investors and financial institutions.
- Deep understanding of capital markets, debt, equity and tax equity/credit financing, and financial instruments.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Solid understanding and hands-on experience with project underwriting, valuation and financial modeling.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, analysis, and relevant software/tools.
Responsibilities:
Capital Raising and Strategy:
- Lead the development and execution of capital raising strategies, including equity, debt, and other financial instruments.
- Identify and engage with potential investors, lenders, and financial partners to secure funding for renewable energy projects.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with investment banks, institutional investors, and other financial stakeholders.
- Evaluate and recommend optimal capital structures for projects and the company’s overall portfolio.
Financial Structuring and Execution:
- Lead the structuring, negotiation, and execution of complex financial transactions, including project finance, corporate finance, and M&A activities.
- Oversee the preparation of investment memoranda, presentations, and other materials for investors and financial partners.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, and development teams to ensure the successful closing of transactions.
Market Analysis and Risk Management:
- Monitor capital markets, economic trends, and industry developments to inform financing strategies and identify opportunities.
- Assess and manage financial risks related to capital markets and investment activities.
- Provide strategic guidance to senior management on market conditions, financing options, and capital allocation.
Project Underwriting and Valuation:
- Manage project underwriting criteria and work with cross-functional teams to implement them.
- Manage financial analysts and the modeling team to ensure accuracy and consistency in valuation across projects.
Team Leadership:
- Ensure effective communication and coordination across cross-functional teams to support financing initiatives.
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing structured finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
- Provide guidance and support to team members on financial structuring, negotiations, and market analysis.
