The VP, Controller will lead Vesper Energy’s accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight to support the company’s growth. This role will oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including financial close, internal controls, tax compliance, and audit management. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in renewable energy or infrastructure, strong leadership skills, and the ability to partner cross-functionally to drive financial excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the accounting team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Manage the month-end and year-end financial close processes.
- Ensure the company’s internal controls are robust and effective.
- Lead the coordination and completion of external audits.
- Oversee tax compliance and filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to support business growth.
- Provide strategic financial insights to executive leadership to drive decision-making.
- Partner with FP&A, project development, and operations teams to ensure accurate project accounting and reporting.
- Manage treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
- Lead system and process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA required.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, including leadership roles.
- Experience in the renewable energy or infrastructure sector preferred.
- Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
