We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting and financial reporting activities for our solar and energy storage portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the monthly close process, ensuring accurate corporate as well as project-level financial statements, overseeing revenue recognition and cost accounting, and maintaining compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. The Senior Accounting Manager will support audits, collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Asset Management, and Legal, and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls. The Senior Accounting Manager will report to VP, Controller & Treasurer. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting expertise, demonstrated experience with project-based or energy-sector accounting, and the ability to lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
Role Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
Years of Experience: 8-10+ years of progressive experience, ideally with a mix of public accounting and industry experience.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for both corporate and project-level entities.
- Review and approve journal entries, account balance reconciliations, and consolidation activity.
- Ensure proper application of ASC 606 for revenue recognition and ASC 842 for lease accounting, as applicable.
- Responsible for hierarchy and scalability in chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements, and monthly/quarterly business review packages.
- Prepare or review financial variance analysis and results for management reporting.
Project-Level Accounting
- Oversee accounting activities for solar and energy storage assets throughout development, construction, and operational stages.
- Manage project transitions from construction to placed-in-service, including asset reclassifications and depreciation setup.
- Review and oversee project-level operating expenses, including O&M, land lease, insurance, and property taxes.
Consolidations & Entity Structure Management
- Manage consolidation processes across complex ownership structures, including tax equity partnerships, joint ventures, and minority interest entities.
- Apply consolidation and VIE guidance in accordance with ASC 810.
Audit & Internal Controls
- Lead interim and annual audit processes and collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
- Strengthen internal controls in alignment with SOX-like environments.
Tax Equity & Debt Financing
- Account for tax equity investments, including HLBV allocations.
- Support lender reporting, compliance with financing covenant, and project-level audit requirements.
Process Improvements
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes, controls, and financial systems.
- Participate in strategic financial projects including ERP implementation, upgrades, and process optimizations.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with FP&A, Structured Finance, Asset Management, EPC, Development, and Legal teams.
- Provide accounting support for new transactions, acquisitions, or restructurings.
- Supervise, develop, and mentor staff and senior accountants.
